Blackout Blinds for Wide Windows

Our extra wide blackout blinds are made to measure in the UK. Vertical blinds go up to 500cm wide and 350cm drop, and roller blinds up to 350cm wide. Both use a PVC-coated fibreglass core that blocks out light.

For a very wide bay, patio door or run of glass, a vertical is the usual choice because its stack can sit to one side or split in the middle.

Choosing and Measuring Wide Blinds

A vertical's slats turn with a wand and the whole blind draws to the side, so a wide opening is easy to use. A roller covers up to 350cm in one sheet but sits as a single drop. The leaf prints on the rollers may need the pattern turned sideways at wide sizes, so read the Blindstyle Hints.

Measure width in three places, use the smallest, and follow the matching guide. Verticals have a vertical blind measuring guide, and rollers a roller blind measuring guide. See our extra wide blinds page for other materials.

Extra Wide Blackout Blind FAQs

The widest is a vertical blind, with a maximum of 500cm wide by 350cm drop. The widest roller is 350cm wide.

The PVC coating stops light passing through the fabric, even at wide sizes. A thin line can show at the edges.

They are a good option, though whether they are best depends on your needs. They block out light when closed and are waterproof. If you want daylight, a dim out vertical filters it instead.

Verticals draw to one side or split in the middle, and you choose the stack and control side when you order.
