Features of Black Blinds
Our black blinds can come with a range of different features. Our most popular features are blackout, thermal, waterproof, and no drill. Here's a breakdown of what they are and when to opt for them:
-
Black Blackout Blinds: These blinds have a coating on their fabric which allows them to completely block out light. They're best used in bedrooms for a good night's sleep or rooms with screen glare, like offices or living rooms.
- Black Thermal Blinds: These blinds have a thicker coating which allows them to trap air better between the window and the blind - like having an extra window pane. These can be good anywhere around the house but especially on big windows, in bedrooms, and in bathrooms.
- Black Waterproof Blinds: As the name suggests, these blinds resist water, which makes them perfect for bathrooms or other wet areas like above the kitchen sink.
- Black No Drill Blinds: These blinds require no screws or drills, they use a clip system that slides between the pane and beading to attach directly to the window frame. No drill blinds are mostly used in conservatories, on doors, and on windows that have obstructions close to the window.
Black Window Blind Materials
As well as being full of features, our black blinds come in a range of materials and styles. The most popular material is fabric. This can be a polyester fabric (dim out) or a polyester fabric with a uPVC coating (blackout). Our fabric blinds are available as roller blinds and as vertical blinds. The 2nd most popular material for black blinds is wood. At Blindstyle, we only currently stock real wood black blinds, which are made of sustainably sourced basswood. The last material we have at Blindstyle is aluminium. This water resistant blind is available as standard aluminium venetian blinds or as perfect fit blinds (no drill).
As to which is the best material, that is subjective and will be down to your unique situation but here's where each material does best:
- Polyester fabric: This is best when looking for a low cost option that does a good job at blocking out light - think offices, dining rooms, hallways, etc...
- blackout fabric: This is best when needing to completely remove light like in bedrooms or living rooms (if screen glare is an issue).
- Real wood: This material is for those looking for a stunning classic look but, as they're real wood, they need to be away from water so can work in living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, etc... For wet areas, opt for faux wood blinds.
- Aluminium: This is a super versatile material so it can be used anywhere for anything. It works in wet areas like kitchens and bathrooms, in bedrooms and living rooms, and the perfect fit venetians work for doors, obstructed windows, and conservatories.
Black Window Blinds FAQs
Does a black blind make a room hotter?
A black blind can make a room hotter. Black absorbs heat from the sun more than other colours (like white or cream), though the specific material used here plays a role also. For example, wood tends to absorb heat whilst aluminium conducts it.
What are the best black blind types?
The best black blind will depend on your needs. Though, the most common black blinds are black roller blinds and black venetian blinds. Both roller blinds and venetian blinds are water resistant, cheap, and provide great light control.
