Blackout Vertical Blinds
Made to Measure Blackout Vertical Blinds
Our blackout vertical blinds are made to measure in the UK with 89mm slats and a smooth wand control. Each slat has a PVC-coated fibreglass core that blocks light through the fabric, wipes clean and is waterproof. The colours run from white, cream and beige through light and dark greys to navy, royal blue and black.
The fabric complies with Type B of BS 5867-2:2008. Up to ten free samples, posted first class, let you check the colour in your own light, and a 4 year guarantee covers every blind.
How Dark Are Blackout Vertical Blinds?
With the slats closed, the PVC coating stops light passing through the fabric, so the blind itself blocks the light. Light can still show through the gaps at the sides and above and below the blind, and a blackout blind fitted inside the recess still lets some light in at the sides. For the darkest room choose exact size and allow more than 5cm of overlap each side and at least 7cm above the window.
You can tilt the slats part open to let daylight in whenever you like. If you would rather soften the light than block it, see our dim out vertical blinds, and for a single colour see our grey blackout vertical blinds.
Blackout Vertical Blind FAQs
Can I achieve complete darkness with blackout verticals?
Nearly. The PVC-coated fabric stops light passing through the blind when it is closed, but light can still come through the sides or above and below the blind, so choose exact size with extra overlap for the darkest result.
Do blackout blinds provide thermal insulation for energy efficiency?
We do not publish insulation figures or energy savings for our blinds, so we cannot promise that. What the PVC-coated slat does do is block the light through the fabric when the slats are closed.
Are your blackout vertical blinds flame retardant?
Our PVC-coated blackout fabric complies with Type B of BS 5867-2:2008.
Which vertical blinds are blackout?
The PVC-coated vertical blinds are blackout. The polyester ones filter light and are sold as dim out. On this page every blind has the PVC-coated slat.
How do I blackout vertical blinds?
Choose a PVC-coated blackout vertical, close the slats fully, and order exact size with more than 5cm of overlap each side so the gaps are as small as possible. A blackout blind fitted inside the recess still lets some light in at the sides.
How do I measure my windows for blackout vertical blinds?
For the darkest room, measure for an exact size that overlaps the frame, because a blind inside the recess lets some light in at the sides. Our measuring guide for vertical blinds shows each step. Every order is covered by measurement protection, which means a reduced price on a replacement if a measurement is wrong, depending on the blind.
Are blackout vertical blinds easy to install?
Yes. For the darkest result fix the brackets at the top of the frame with the blind overlapping the window. Follow our vertical blind installation guide, using the brackets and safety device in the box.
